Biography
Pajama Party was a New York vocal trio assembled in the late 1980s, part of the wave of girl groups that Atlantic Records signed as freestyle crossed toward pop. “Yo No Sé” arrived in 1988, its title borrowed from Spanish even as the group sang in English, a nod to the genre’s Latin audience.
The single became a club and radio hit and led the album Up All Night (1989), which produced further dance chart entries including the title track. The group’s sound sat at the sweet spot between freestyle’s Latin percussion and late-80s dance-pop gloss.
Pajama Party recorded a second album before the group wound down in the early 1990s. “Yo No Sé” remains their signature, still in rotation wherever freestyle programming survives, and it holds a spot on this site’s Top 100.
