Biography
The Rios Sisters were present at the founding of Micmac Records. “You” carries catalog number MIC-502, the label’s second release ever, and “Hold Me” followed as MIC-507, placing the sister act at the center of Micmac’s original late-80s roster alongside Cynthia, Johnny O, and Tonasia.
Both singles became staples of the label’s catalog and its long-running compilation series, where the Micmac sound was defined: New York freestyle with melodic hooks, pressed loud for the clubs.
The Rios Sisters’ place in the genre is a founding one. When Micmac’s catalog gets celebrated, their two singles are part of the label’s origin story, and both appear on this site.
