Laissez Faire

Biography

Laissez Faire was a female freestyle trio that recorded for Metropolitan, the New Jersey label that carried freestyle through the early 1990s. “In Paradise” became the group’s signature, and “After the Lovin'” extended their run on club playlists and freestyle radio programming.

The group’s bright harmonies sat squarely in the era’s girl-group tradition, alongside acts like Sweet Sensation and The Cover Girls, on the poppier end of the freestyle spectrum.

“In Paradise” remains their enduring record, a fixture of Metropolitan-era compilations, and it appears on this site with its player.
