Biography
Nyasia, born Blanca Batista Santiago in West Palm Beach, Florida, joined freestyle’s second wave in the early 1990s. “Now and Forever” arrived in 1991 on Micmac Records, and “Who’s Got Your Love” followed in 1992, reaching #95 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her self-titled Micmac album in 1994 collected the run, and she continued releasing singles through the decade as one of the label’s later-era standard-bearers.
Nyasia still performs on the freestyle circuit. “Now and Forever” is her entry on this site, a record from the years when Micmac kept the genre alive largely by itself.
