Company B Biography

Crafted in Miami by producer Ish “Angel” Ledesma, Company B delivered one of freestyle’s most infectious crossover hits—a song so irresistibly catchy it transcended the club scene and lodged itself in mainstream pop consciousness.

The group came together in 1986 as a studio project, with Ledesma assembling a trio of vocalists: Lori L. (Ledesma), Charlotte McKinnon, and Susan Johnson. By the time their debut album hit shelves, the lineup had shifted—Lezlee Livrano replacing McKinnon—establishing the revolving-door dynamic that would define the group’s history.

None of that mattered once “Fascinated” dropped in 1987. The track was pure freestyle alchemy—a bubbling synth hook, punchy drum programming, and an instantly memorable chorus that radio couldn’t resist. It shot to #1 on the Dance charts and climbed to #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the genre’s signature crossover moments.

Their self-titled debut album capitalized on that momentum, delivering additional club hits like “Full Circle,” “Perfect Lover,” and “Signed in Your Book of Love”—all of which charted and kept Company B in steady rotation.

The 1989 follow-up Gotta Dance took a playful turn, featuring a freestyle-flavored cover of the Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” alongside original tracks like “You Stole My Heart.” It didn’t replicate the debut’s commercial success, but kept the group visible on the dance circuit.

Company B continued through the 90s with albums 3 and Jam on Me (both 1996), and regrouped in 2006 with original members for continued touring. They remain fixtures on the freestyle reunion circuit, where “Fascinated” still does exactly what the title promises.
