“Don’t Take Your Love” was released in 1987 credited to Stardom Groove Presents Lydia ‘Lee’ Love, a 12″ on the NYG label that became one of freestyle’s great collector records. The single ran deep on mixes: club, dub, radio, and acapella versions spread across multiple pressings, and original copies command strong prices on the vinyl market to this day. “We Should Start Over” followed her into the early house era.
Lydia Lee Love’s recorded output stayed small, and details of her career beyond the records are scarce. “Don’t Take Your Love” carries the legacy by itself, a single whose editing, vocal, and scarcity made it permanent.
