Samantha Fox

Biography

Samantha Fox was already a British tabloid celebrity when she turned to music, and the skeptics lasted about one single. “Touch Me (I Want Your Body)” reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986 and became a worldwide smash, its production pulling directly from the freestyle and hi-NRG sound of the moment.

Her American records leaned harder into freestyle. “Naughty Girls (Need Love Too),” produced with Full Force, hit #3 in 1988, and “I Wanna Have Some Fun” followed into the top ten. Full Force, the Brooklyn crew behind Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, gave her records genuine New York club credibility.

Fox remains a touring act and a fixture of 80s dance programming. “Touch Me” earned its place in the freestyle canon the honest way: the clubs that built the genre played it into the ground.
