Cynthia

Biography

Cynthia Torres was Micmac Records’ marquee voice. “Change on Me,” catalog number MIC-503, was the label’s third release ever, and its success in New York clubs and on dance radio helped establish Micmac as freestyle’s great independent. “Endless Nights” (MIC-510) and “Thief of Hearts” (MIC-526) followed and became two of the genre’s defining ballad-leaning records.

“What Will It Take” extended her run, and her duet with labelmate Johnny O, “Dream Boy / Dream Girl,” paired the label’s two biggest names on one record and became a freestyle standard.

Cynthia remains one of the genre’s most requested live performers, a headliner on the reunion circuit for three decades. Four of her songs appear on this site, more than any other female artist in the catalog.
