Latin Rascals

Biography

The Latin Rascals were Tony Moran and Albert Cabrera, the edit team whose razor-blade tape work on New York’s 98.7 KISS-FM mastermixes helped invent the sound of freestyle radio. Their rapid-fire splice edits became a genre signature, and labels hired them to cut the era’s biggest records.

They produced and remixed across the freestyle catalog, including work for TKA, and released records of their own. “Arabian Knights” captured their style at single length: edits as the instrument.

Moran went on to a major career as a house producer and remixer. The duo’s fingerprints are all over this site’s catalog whether credited or not, and “Arabian Knights” holds their page’s spot on the Top 100.
