Latin Rascals Biography

The Latin Rascals were a New York City DJ duo comprised of Tony Moran and Albert Cabrera, celebrated for their groundbreaking freestyle edits and remixes in the mid to late 1980s. Born out of the Bronx club scene, they pioneered techniques like rapid-fire tape splicing to create innovative transitions that electrified the airwaves on stations such as 98.7 Kiss FM. Beyond their DJ mastery, the pair also produced and remixed tracks for numerous Latin dance and freestyle acts, shaping the genre’s sound and elevating it to new creative heights. Among their own releases, “Arabian Nights” captured their knack for weaving multicultural influences into a high-energy freestyle groove. Tony Moran later branched out into producing hits for major artists like Mariah Carey, yet the Latin Rascals name continues to evoke nostalgia and respect, standing as a testament to the duo’s lasting impact on dance music.
