Biography
Monet’s “My Heart Gets All the Breaks” was the first record on Ligosa, catalog number LIG-501, released in 1987 with production by Mark Liggett and co-production and mixing by Tommy Uzzo. Ligosa was the same New York independent that would later first release George Lamond’s “Bad of the Heart.”
“Give In To Me” followed the same year, a 12″ whose vocal and dub mixes made it a club and collector staple. Original pressings of both singles still trade steadily on the vinyl market.
Monet’s two singles on this site cover her recorded core: founding releases from a small label with an outsized place in freestyle collecting.
