Sweet Sensation Biography

Sweet Sensation is an American freestyle trio formed in New York City in the mid-1980s. Originally comprising Betty LeBron, Margie Fernandez, and Mari Fernandez, the group signed with Next Plateau Records and debuted with the 1988 album Take It While It’s Hot. This record spawned club and radio hits like “Hooked on You” and “Sincerely Yours,” establishing Sweet Sensation within the growing freestyle scene. Their commercial peak arrived in 1990 with the single “If Wishes Came True,” which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and appeared on their second album, Love Child. Although lineup changes occurred over time, Sweet Sensation remains a staple of freestyle nostalgia tours and 1980s–1990s dance-pop retrospectives, with their biggest hits often featured on genre compilations.
